With its granite bar, metal and mosaic tile fireplace, and warm, contemporary lighting, blue’s wine bar is a welcoming environment for sampling the restaurant’s extensive collection of international wines: sixty-five bottles offered by the glass and 320 offered by the bottle.

As a grillhouse, blue’s specialty is prime beef from Chicago—in particular, bone-in filet mignon and bone-in New York Strip steaks. Given the superior quality of the meat, you won’t find superfluous sauces disguising it, says general manager Barbara Brower. Each cut is cooked in a 1,800-degree oven, which seals in juices, though Brower is also quick to credit the talents of blue’s broiler chef.
